Hamster Supply Checklist

To own a hamster you need a few key supplies. That is what i'm going to talk about today. The first thing you're going to need is a good cage. The mistake that most hamster owners make is that they buy a small cage. Hamsters need at least 450 square inches of space. A bin cage or a terrarium works fine. The next thing you will need in bedding. Buy the aspen or paper based bedding because it works best. Put at least 4 inches of bedding in their cage so they have space to burrow. They will also need a water bottle or water bowl. It's your choice of which you want to use. I recommend a water bottle because it is less messy and the hamster could get fall in the water bowl and that could kill them. Your hamster will need food of course. The food will need the right amount of protein, carbs, fat, vitamins and minerals. Give he or she fresh foods as a treat. Hamster like to have an exercise wheel. For dwarf hamster they need a 6-8 inch wheel and syrians need 8-12 inch wheels. I recommend wodent wheel or a silent wheel. Also buy a wheel that doesn't have wire because their foot might get stuck. Hamsters like sleeping in hideouts. Ceramic hideouts are the best. Keep at least one in their cage because if they get frightened, they always have a place to hide. Hamster need toys and chews to keep occupied. Toys are just for fun and chews keep their teeth down. Some toys are tubes, ladders, platforms, puzzle playground and bendy tunnels. They need a food dish to keep their food mix in. These are all necessary, trust me.
